Volunteering over 100 hours annually with Vibha and VT Seva has been a deeply rewarding experience, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to causes ranging from education for underprivileged children to community welfare initiatives. Through consistent service and a commitment to making a tangible impact, I was honored to receive the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2024. This recognition not only reflects the time invested but also the passion and dedication I bring to civic engagement. Working alongside like-minded volunteers and witnessing the positive change team create has strengthened my belief in the power of collective action and inspires me to continue serving with purpose.
Cleaning Streets, Building Communities
Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on my local environment, I joined VT Seva—a global nonprofit rooted in volunteerism and compassion—to lead a unique collaboration with the City of Lewisville, Texas. Through the “Adopt-a-Street” program, I guided our youth organization in maintaining a one-mile stretch of roadway for an entire year, reflecting the city’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
As a youth leader, I organized and conducted multiple street cleanups in 2023 and 2024, rallying enthusiastic volunteers from my neighborhood and school. Together, we turned routine Saturdays into vibrant displays of teamwork and civic pride. But this initiative was more than just picking up litter—it became a hands-on lesson in environmental responsibility, community engagement, and the power of youth leadership.
My team expanded our impact through awareness campaigns, social media outreach, and direct collaboration with city officials to ensure safety and success. We documented each cleanup with photos and shared them to inspire others. Over time, we saw visible improvements in street cleanliness and neighborhood morale. Residents began to recognize our efforts—some even joined in.
This experience taught me that collective action can spark real change. Partnering with VT Seva allowed me to blend social service with environmental advocacy, creating ripples that extended far beyond the pavement we maintained. It wasn’t just volunteering—it was a movement, powered by purpose and driven by youth.
VT Seva is a global non-profit organization powered by volunteerism and compassion. Founded in the USA in 2008 as a registered 501(c)(3), it is part of a broader service network alongside Vikasa Tarangini, its sister organization established in India in 1992. Together, they form a worldwide movement with a deep-rooted commitment to community service. With a vibrant network of volunteers across the U.S., India, England, Australia, and beyond, VT Seva and Vikasa Tarangini have mobilized thousands of individuals to create meaningful, lasting impact—demonstrating the extraordinary strength of collective action.
